What Causes Trailer Vibration When Towing

Question:
I have a brand new 30’ gooseneck trailer. 26’ with a 4’ dove tail. Picked it up Monday and drove it home. The shaking/vibration was non stop for the 1 hour drive. Will a rail style gooseneck hitch with the Spyder gooseneck ball cause this? The pin on Spyder has about 1/4” side to side and 1/8” front to back play with about 1/8-1/4” straight up pull play in it. It vibrated so hard when we took off the phone came off the magnet.

The gooseneck rail adapters are not known to cause this problem so I would not anticipate that being the problem. I would assume it's something to do with the trailer's suspension or an axle alignment problem. I would first check the tires to see if you find any unusual wear patterns. I'd anticipate you'll find tire cupping which is usually caused by worn suspension components.

Hey, did checking the tires on your gooseneck trailer show any cupping or uneven wear like we talked about? That could help confirm if the suspension is the cause of the vibration. Your update could make it easier for others with the same issue.
