Availability Of LM12749 Bearing
Question:
Hi, I’m looking for some parts for a trailer I have. It’s a homemade trailer from a camper. It’s a 6 bolt rim/hub, square axle1.78” and at one point had trailer brakes. Its uses inner bearing L68149 and outer bearing LM12749. I don’t see the outer bearing on your site. Do you sell it? I saw your article on figuring out trailer axle size. What would you think this axle is weight wise? Thanks, Gavin

Hello Gavin. The # L68149 bearing is quite common, but the LM12749 bearing is an older bearing size that is now obsolete. Our records show the LM12749 bearing has a 0.86" ID and most trailer spindles made these days are at least a 1". Since the bearing is not available, your best option will be to replace the axle entirely with something made more to the current standard.
The weight capacity is hard to say since it is a homemade trailer, but my guess would be an axle rating of 2,000 lbs or less since the bearing ID is so small.
