Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this Tamarack ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire mounted on this 16 inch black steel mod wheel. Now this tire and wheel assembly is gonna be great for your RVs, campers, and trailers. This special trailer tire, or ST tire, has sturdy sidewall so that it can handle heavy loads. This is created specifically for trailers and it's not intended for use on other vehicles.
So, as you know, radial tires are constructed with double steel belts and double nylon ply for for increased durability. The radial tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The nylon tread firming belt overlays are gonna help prevent tread separation. And the tread wear indicator is gonna make it very easy to see the tread depth. So, as I mentioned at the beginning of our time together and as we have stamped here on our tire, this is an ST235/80R16.
The section width is gonna be about 9.25 inches. The outer diameter when fully inflated is 30.78 inches. This is a load range E tire, meaning it has a 10 ply rating. The maximum load for this tire is 3,520 pounds at 80 PSI. This tire has a speed rating of M, indicating a maximum speed of 81 miles per hour.
And you probably notice the red cap here on the valve stem. That red cap indicates that this assembly has been bead balanced. Balancing beads are a method used to balance tires and they can be particularly useful for trailer tires, which often don't come pre-balanced. The beads are placed inside the tire during production. Then as the tire rotates, the beads will distribute themselves to counteract any imbalances.
