Will Trailer Connector Adapter for Land Rovers Work with a European 7-Way on a Volvo

Question:

I have a Volvo with the Euro 7 pin trailer socket on the back. With this converter, and a standard US 4 pin trailer, I get turn signals, but no brake lights. I know the standard wiring for the 7 pin on the back of the Volvo has a separate wire for the turn signals and the brakes and the 4 pin shares that wire. What is the best way for me to get turn signals and brakes on my trailer? Do I need to rewire the car, re-wire the trailer, or is there a converter that will work for me that will be plug and play?

Adapter # 118710 is specific only to Land Rovers (Brazilian models I believe) and is not really made to work with anything else. It does not actually convert anything which is why you do not have brake lights.

What I recommend, since there is no adapter to convert a true European 7-Way to a US 4-Way, is to wire the Volvo with a separate wiring harness that has a 4-Way. I just need to know the year and specific model of your Volvo.
