Andrew, are you referring to the Curt Trailer Hitch # C11529? If so, then that'd explain why it does not fit - because it's not meant for your car.
You should've been using either the CURT Class 3 Trailer Hitch # C39RV if you don't have the Electric, N Line, or N model, or the CURT Class 3 Trailer Hitch # C43RV if you do have the Electric, N Line, and N models.
