What Is The Correct Replacement Leaf Spring For A 2015 CrossRoads Cruiser CF315RL 5th Wheel?

Updated 08/07/2024 | Published 08/05/2024

Question:

I am trying to make sure this is the correct leaf spring for my 5th wheel. It was two 5200lb lippert axels on my 2015 Crossroads Cruiser cf315rl 5th wheel. We were in a campsite when I noticed a broken leaf spring. I managed to find a mobile mechanic who installed a new 27inch leaf spring, but I believe that is not the correct spring length nor weight capacity. That spring managed to get us home but appears flat and has shifted the equalizer forward on that side. I want to replace all 4 leaf springs along with all bolts and hardware. Please confirm Im on the correct spring as I have noticed by 4 leaf and 5 leaf springs for this axel rating. Thanks, Gary

Hello Gary. The # DX45CR spring may work for your camper, but we want to make sure this spring is identical to the old springs. The best way to measure the current springs is to jack up one side of the trailer and measure the springs when not under a load. If the springs are under a load they can flex and give you a bit of a false measurement. You just need to be sure the new springs are identical in length to the old springs. The number of leaves is not as important as the weight capacity and length. The # DX45CR spring you mentioned is 25-1/4" long eye-to-eye.

Hi Jesse - thanks for your email. I did jack up the camper and measured the old springs and it looks like the 25-1/4" is correct when there is no weight on the axel. Do the new leaf springs come with any hardware like new bolts for the installation. I have read in a number of places that it's a good idea to replace all bolts when installing new leaf springs. It looks like the axel is 3" with 7" long u-bolts going to the springs. Thanks, Gary

@GaryM The # DX45CR leaf spring does not come with any hardware. Generally yes, you do want to replace the bolts and shackles when you replace your springs. We carry kits that come with everything, but I will need to confirm the shackle size that your trailer uses. We need to make sure those are also identical to stock. Shackle links are measured from center hole to center hole so if you can tell me that measurement I can defiantly see if we have a kit for you.

@JesseM Jesse - it looks like the shackles are 2-1/2 inches center to center. I'm going to be replacing all 4 leaf springs, so I'll need enough hardware for that job. Thanks,

Jesse - I rechecked and think it's probably 2-1/4 inch center to center.
