How Does 30 Amp RV Power Source Get Used with 35 Amp Converter
Updated 02/03/2026 | Published 07/29/2024 >
Question:
I have this same box. 25amp converter and you suggest upgrading to a 35 amp. I guess I’m too stupid but if the shore power is 30amp does this work properly? I’m a female getting a crash course in RV nightmare. I have a 1995 dodge ram 3500 cargo van conversion / coachman Saratoga- it has had previous owners who have done some reckless wiring in the camper. I am so lost in what it is I need to do.

Hey Cher, this is a really great question. It's one that took me a second to remember how this works but basically the difference is the voltage. Without trying to get too far into the weeds of AC and DC power basically your 30 amp power source is in AC power which is 110 volt and the output of this is a higher amperage is in DC or 12 volts so that is why the math didn't seem to add up.
