Looking For Extended Shank For Equal-i-zer WD Hitch To Help Clear Open Tailgate

Question:
looking at the extended shank for equalizer hitch. I have a 2024 F350 pulling a 32 foot Grand Design 2670 MK travel trailer. I need the extension so I van open tailgate while hooked up. Is this a good option? How will it affect tongue weight and sway in winds? Thanks

Hello Jim. The # EQ90-02-4500 shank is definitely a good option for an extended shank. This shank is 6" longer than the standard shank that comes with the Equal-i-zer system. The extended shank is reenforced, so it does not affect or reduce your tongue weight. 1,400 lbs is the max tongue weight rating so as long as you stay under that you will be good. There should be no difference in sway when using an extended shank. The Equal-i-zer will still do its job well.

Hey Jim, how did the extended shank work out with your F350 and Grand Design trailer? Did it give you the clearance you needed to open the tailgate while staying stable on the road? Your update could make it easier for others with the same setup.
