You will want to verify the correct size battery with the winch manufacturer. For an example the ComeUp UW-5000si Trailer Winch # CU645010 requires a 12 volt battery capable of at least 650 CCA(cold cranking amps). I do recommend using a maintenance free battery so you do not have to constantly check and refill the water levels.
