Concerns With Exhaust Heat On Yakima BackSwing Hitch Extender

I have a 2022 ram 1500 with dual exhausts and I am concerned this rack would be impacted by the heat from the exhaust. I saw in one of the reviews exhaust heat melted a plastic piece. Im not sure if that impacted the functionality. Please let me know your thoughts.

I understand your concern Bob. I would start by getting the Yakima BackSwing Swing Away Hitch Extender # Y02483 on your 2022 Ram 1500. This will allow you to see if the plastic is close enough to the exhaust to cause an issue. If so you could easily modify a portion of Heat Shield # A80807 to protect the plastic and divert the heat away.
