Is The Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack C18085 Ok To Use With A Class 1 Hitch?

Question:
Is this rack OK to use with a Class 1 Curt 11772 1 1/4inch hitch receiver, if I only use 1 road bike? Specifically, is the tongue weight super critical here?

Hello James. The Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack # C18085 can indeed be used with a class 1 hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver. We do want to keep the tongue weight in mind, but you won't have to worry about it too much. With the weight of the rack itself (46 lbs) and the weight of your road bike, you will be well under the 200 lb tongue weight limit for the hitch. You could easily carry two bike and be just fine as long as the bikes weigh less than 45 lbs apiece.
