Question:

Hello, I have a Tekonsha Primus controller and the brakes seems to work only with the slide switch not the brake pedal. Thank you.

Hey Joseph, so it sounds like there is an issue with the brake switch circuit which is what actually tells the brakes to activate. This should be a red wire coming out of the controller, and you're going to want to make sure that it is connected to a circuit that only sees power when the brakes are activated.

You might also have a blown fuse, so I'd recommend checking that as well.

I have attached a FAQ tht you can check out to help you troubleshoot a bit further.

Are you talking about the fuse on the tow vehicle?

@BryceD I forgot to mention that I hear the magnets working when pressing the brakes but it doesn't seem to stop the tires when I spin the wheels by hand being the tow dolly is on jack stands. Works fine with the slide switch.

@JosephB Ok, so if you hear the magnets engaging then the fuse isn't blown because power is still flowing.
