Question:
I recently upgraded my towing vehicle from a RAM 1500 to a RAM 2500. The hitch receiver is now 2.5” vs 2” on my old truck. My current Reese Weight distribution hitch is a 2” shank. I have the sleeve adapter but its sloppy and theres play. Can i use any 2.5” shank and bolt on my weight distribution and ball to it? Some say universal. Thanka.

Hi Joe,
Yep, you heard correct, you can go from a 2 inch shank to a 2-1/2 inch shank with your Reese weight distribution hitch without issue. One of the following 2-1/2 inch shanks should have the right rise/drop for your application. Here are the max rise/drops:
- Max 7" Rise, 3" Drop: Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Shank - 2-1/2" Hitch # EQ90-02-4700
- Max 10" Rise, 6" Drop: Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Shank - 2-1/2" Hitch # EQ90-02-4900
- Max 13" Rise, 9" Drop: Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Shank - 2-1/2" Hitch # EQ94FR

Ok my concern was the newer shank not fitting the other components and ball that bolt on but they seem to be universal. Thank you.
