Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank - 2-1/2" Hitch - 7" Rise, 3" Drop - EQ90-02-4700

Average Customer Rating:  4.9 out of 5 stars   (80 Customer Reviews)

Shank offers up to a 7" rise and a 3" drop for your Equal-i-zer weight distribution system. Measures 12" long and fits 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" trailer hitches.

Great price and was delivered a day early! I had been putting off upgrading from a 2 inch shank to a 2.5 inch shank for years.. What a mistake! Do it now!. Removing the internal 2 inch shank reducer in the hitch and installing the 2.5 shank has made the towing much smoother and secure. I should have done this years ago!!! Just completed a 1500 mile round trip, what a game changer!....

Stepped up from the 2" version of this shank after stepping up to a truck with a 3" receiver. Exact replacement for the old shank, albeit with less play due to reducers. Will be towing a 38' TT from AZ to IL in the upcoming week and am now looking a bit more forward to the tow!

After the initial wrong part delivery, etrailer worked hard to quickly fix the situation and send me the correct part. The new part was correct and works great!

The shank is exactly what it says it is. I needed the hitch head about even with the receiver on the truck, this one allowed that. I would of given it 5 stars but etrailers service was extremely disappointing. First it took them a week to actually ship it and they put this 25 pound piece of steel into a single cardboard box with a bit of paper around it. Obviously the box didn't survive the trip. I thought you guys were suppose to be good at this? You should take lesson from [other company] on how to pack materials.

Fits very nicely in my GMC 3500 receiver tube. I like that I don’t have to use the spacer

Order was fast and quick. I wanted to upgrade the hitch and arms to the 14K from the 10K Equalizer set up. The arms are larger giving me the added lift I needed. I also was tired of the additional play in my Ford OEM receiver so I ordered from them the 21/2" stinger. I transferred hardware over including the ball and everything is much better. I have little to no play now trailer is level and all sway is gone. Thank you etrailer for always recommending the right products and having what I need. I will always use you and recommend you to all my friends!

Solid and well built. Eliminates having to use another reducer on my 3 inch receiver.

The etrailer team that helped me showed incredible customer service, much appreciated!!!

The shank has performed great, minimal movement compared to the sleeve. Reduces wear on the hitch and hitch pin.

Fits perfectly, now the slop is gone from the 2” shank and the 2”/2 1/2” adapter. Actually arrived a day early.

Hey George, if this mail goes thru. I adapted a set up for the hitch when i park. I used 2 pieces of welded angle iron and welded the adapter to them. Then i bolted the assembled part to the a frame, behind battery box.

This is what I needed, and was exactly as described.

Shaft is pretty solid and hefty , fits the hitch pretty tight , everything swapped over from other shaft I was given when I bought the camper and had almost 2.5 inches of play including the insert from 2.5 to 2 inch.

Got it quick and works perfectly.

Great product!
Bolted on with ease and
fit perfectly...

This thing is rugged. As it should be.

Exactly what I was looking for ...and the customer service is exceptional as always

Excellent, this product allows me to set my ball at the correct height to pull my trailer level

Arrived early. All pieces were there and it was a snap to make this upgrade to the old hitch.
E-trailer has always been great to do business with.

Still working great after 1 year. No problems.

Good service

My 2" square shank with 2" to 2 1/2" adapter was very sloppy in my Silverado 2500 HD receiver and I noticed the pin hole was beginning to elongate slightly due to the slop. This 2 1/2" weight distribution shank proved to be a direct replacement for the Eaz Lift WD set up I have and works perfectly. It fits very well into my receiver with minimum slop and the corners are beautifully machined. I'm sure the pin hole elongation problem will be minimized now. Great product and recommended.

Works great. No issues.
George K - 12/23/2016

I'm thankful to find this shank that is already adapted to fit my stock heavy duty hitch which is 1/2" larger than what is common on most tow packages. Being able to use this instead of an adapter collar is a pure solid feel, one less part to keep track of and a fair price. Thank you for the quick shipping and good customer service to ensure me this was the part I was looking for.

This is one heavy duty shank. The initial adjustments I made to it have stayed in place and no back off of any bolts.
Travis P - 08/18/2019

Bought a chevy 2500,had a 21/2" receiver. Replaced the shank instead of using 2" insert, this way no extra play in receiver. Works great.

Still working great
Jerry B - 02/08/2018

Bought a new F250 with the 2.5" receiver but my existing hitch shank was 2". I found trying to position a sleeve adapter while also holding and positioning the heavy weight distribution hitch to be frustrating. I replaced the 2" shank on my Blue Ox WDH with this 2.5" shank to eliminate that problem. As always, etrailer provided fast delivery and great communication.

I was using the adapter sleeve that came with my F250 and the Equalizer Hitch with a 2-inch shank. I have to say this new 2-1/2 inch shank reduces sway even more. It was worth the extra expense of changing out. Etrailer delivered on-time at a competitive price.

I was using a 2" shank with a reducer on my 2017 Ram 3500 with a 2 1/2" hitch. It had way too much play in it for me. Ordered an Equalizer 2 1/2" shank and it is much improved. Typical Equalizer quality. Tori was very friendly and knowledgeable and made ordering a pleasure. Great company!

  • Shank Recommendation for Using Equal-I-Zer Weight Distribution System in 2-1/2 inch Hitch
Yes, if you are wanting to use your current Equal-I-Zer weight distribution system in a 2-1/2 inch hitch all you have to do is swap out the shank with the part # EQ90-02-4700 which will attach to the head of your system and then fit into a 2-1/2 inch hitch.

  • Can a 2-1/2 WD Shank be Used with a System that Uses a 2 Shank
Most WD shanks that fit a 2-1/2" receiver taper down to the normal 2" receiver size, just like the Equal-i-zer Shank # EQ90-02-4700. The only thing that you need to be sure of is that the mounting holes are in the same space. I have linked a photo displaying the dimensions I referenced for you.

  • Can Other Brands of Weight Distribution Heads be Used with Equalizer Shank # EQ90-02-4700
Yes, the Equalizer Shank part # EQ90-02-4700 that you referenced can be used with other brand weight distribution heads. Basically all of the WD system manufacturers decided to use the same dimensions for their heads and shanks so all of the shanks are interchangeable. The # EQ90-02-4700 is a great solution for fitting a system in to a 2-1/2 inch hitch.

  • 2-1/2 inch Hitch Shank for Pro Series Weight Distribution 49913
The Equal-i-zer weight distribution shank part # EQ90-02-4700 would work great as a replacement shank for your Pro Series weight distribution system. This can do a drop of up to 3 inches and fits the 2-1/2 inch hitch size directly without an adapter.

  • Recommended 2-1/2 Inch Weight Distribution System Shank Compatible with Previous 2" Receiver System
Yes. The 2-1/2 inch shanks like # EQ90-02-4700 or # EQ90-02-4900 will allow you to use the same Fastway e2 system. The shanks are not brand specific and are often interchangeable to meet your specific needs. I recommend the Equal-I-zer because they are connected with Fastway and this will work well for your 2-1/2 inch receiver. The shank replacement will be the only change necessary for that application.

  • 2-1/2 Inch Shank for Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System
Great question. Unfortunately we don't do trade ins but you can sell your shank locally to recoup some of the money for the purchase of a 2-1/2 inch compatible shank. For that shank, I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank - 2-1/2" Hitch - 7" Rise, 3" Drop # EQ90-02-4700 or for a larger drop use Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank - 2-1/2" Hitch - 10" Rise/6" Drop # EQ90-02-4900.

  • How to Determine What Rise/Drop That is Needed for Weight Distribution System
To determine how much of a Rise or Drop you would need so that your towing setup is level you will need to compare some measurements. Start off my parking your 2017 GMC on level ground and then measuring from the ground to the top of the receiver opening. You will then want to park your trailer on level ground and measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler. If the top of your receiver opening is taller (which is most likely the case) you will want to subtract the height of the...

  • Replacement 2-1/2 Shank For Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System and Figuring Rise/Drop Needed
It is possible to switch out the 2" weight distribution shank to a 2-1/2" shank like part # EQ90-02-4900. To figure out the amount of rise/drop you may need in a weight distribution shank you would need to do some measuring. I recommend to measure from the top of the hitch on your truck to the ground. Then measure from the bottom of the trailer coupler to the ground. The difference between those two measurements is the amount of rise/drop needed. If your coupler height is greater, you...
