Question:
I have a Reese 5th wheel hitch, part FC3J-5B110-AA that is giving us problems unhooking from our RV. Someone has to pull on the release handle and hold it while the truck is pulled ahead. Weve had it for nearly 8 years and its really been pretty trouble free. I dont see anything obvious wrong, can you give me any suggestions on what to look for.

It sounds like your Reese 5th Wheel Hitch item # RP30922 needs to have the jaw mechanism lubricated. You will want to use a white lithium grease like item # L11354 and lubricate the king pin each time you hook up to your hitch.
I attached a picture that shows where the Reese 5th wheel hitch needs to be lubricated.
