Recommended Suspension Enhancement For a 2011 Ram 5000 With Close to 13,500LBS On Rear Axle

Published 04/17/2024

Question:

I have a 2011 5500 the front axle empty is 5840lbs rear is 5720lbs for a total of 11,560lbs. I am consistently at the GVWR of 19,500lbs with close to 13,500lbs on the rear axle. My springs anre getting weak and I’m concerned a 5000 pound bag is not going to be enough. Do you have any larger kits or is that what you recommend?

Expert Reply:

Honestly with these very heavy weights the Timbren # TDR5500 becomes the best option for your 2011 Ram 5500. This particular kit is rated for 12,000lbs of support capacity to the rear suspension. They are also less likely to become damaged under very heavy loads and you will not have to worry about the air pressure like you get with the Air Bags # AL88255.
