Slider Base Needed For A Curt A16 5th Wheel Hitch

Updated 04/10/2024 | Published 04/09/2024

Question:

I have a curt A16 fifth wheel hitch for my 2022 Ford F350 short bed truck. I need to get the slider base for it. I need to change it from the fixed base to a slider. I can’t find that part on your website. Can you please send me a link for that part?

Hey Erik,

To swap your Curt A16 5th Wheel Hitch # C16120 from a fixed base to a slider base you'll just need the R16 Roller # C16560 that you were already looking at. This is going to bolt up to your hitch the same way that the fixed legs do. If you think you might upgrade later on to an A20 for some more capacity then I recommend going with the S20 Slider Base # C63DR instead since it's compatible with both the A16 and A20 so you can minimize the cost later on.

Great thanks! I wanted to make sure that was the correct part I needed.

I forgot to ask will this slider base work with the factory fifth wheel prep package or is it just for use with rails? I have the puck system now with my standard A16 hitch.

@ErikV The puck system does change things. You'll need the Curt 5th Wheel Round Tube Slider for Ford Super Duty Towing Prep Package # C16020 instead. This works with Curt A16, A20, A25, E16, Q16, Q20, and Q24 5th-wheel trailer hitches so you'll be able to increase capacity later on without having to replace the slider base as well.
