Roadmaster Tow Bar Wiring - Bypasses Vehicle Wiring - RM47ZR Review

Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Roadmaster Custom Wiring Kit with the Smart Diode for the Jeep's variable voltage LED tail lights. Now this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2021 Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee, the 2021 Gladiator, and the 2021 Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited, and that have the LED lights and the proximity sensors. And on a custom fit part like this, I do recommend for you to go to our website and use the fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it'll show if this'll work for your application.

Now this wiring kit here will let you connect your RV's tail, brake, and turn signal lights to your tow car's LED lighting system. The kit will include everything laid out here on the table. We'll start with the two smart diodes. Comes also with the 27 foot long 4-wire wiring harness, three foot long split loom, a bag of ring terminals, butt connectors, and some short wires, some wire ties, and a nice set of detailed instructions that'll describe how this installs. Basically, the smart diodes in this kit is what'll convert the 12 volt signal from your RV to a nine volt signal, ensuring that your car's variable voltage LED tail lights will function as they're intended.

These do also prevent electrical feedback that could damage your vehicle's electrical components. If you'll notice the diodes themselves are in a nice powder-coated aluminum casing which is corrosion resistant, provides protection from the elements. Now, this kit here is designed to work with LED lights only. If your vehicle does have incandescent lights, you'll need to use the smart diode kit designed for the incandescent tail lights instead. That's part number R094FR, and we do sell that kit separately on our website.

Now when you do install this kit, you will need to add a 4-way or 6-way round electrical connector to the front of your vehicle so that you could connect your RV when you're ready to tow. We do recommend to use one of Roadmaster's Coil Cable Kits to get both the connector and the adapter coordinated for a nice, fast, easy hookup. Again, those items we sell separately. It's either part number RM-164-7 or the RM-146-7. Now, these parts are made in the USA.

Few specs on it. The maximum amperage is five amps. Maximum voltage is 16 volts. And one last note to mention, that if you do use a supplemental braking system when you're flat towing, a brake light relay may be required, and that's part number RM-88400. But that should do it for the review on the Roadmaster Custom Wiring Kit with the Smart Diodes for the Jeep variable voltage LED tail lights..
