Recommended Air Pressure for a Goodyear Endurance ST225/75R15 Radial Tire

Question:

Aloha, we have a single axle KZ Escape Hatch 17 2021 - and we tow with a Tacoma. Loaded the trailer weighs 3800 or so. There is so much confusion about proper PSI for these Goodyear Endurance 225/75/15 load range E1. Our trailer is light. Max PSI on these tires says 80. Some people say - including Etrailer - the answer is simple - just run the max PSI on tires - the end. But some say - run lower PSI. What is the correct interpretation and what is safest?

45 PSI is as low as you can go per tire for a 3,800 lbs trailer. The Goodyear Endurance ST225/75R15 Radial Tire item # LH33FR, you were looking at, is a load range E tire with a maximum capacity of 2,830lbs at 80 PSI per tire. The air pressure can be lowered to as much as 25 PSI which will support 1,430 lbs per tire or as high as 80 PSI with a 2,830 lbs per tire load.

I have included the tire pressure chart from Goodyear on the allowable tire pressures and load capability ratings.

Is it better to lower the PSI to match the weight of the camper and cargo? I have a single axle camper, total weight of 4800 on the ST225/75R15 tires. should i lower it to 65-70 PSI, or is there any harm done in leaving it at 80 PSI?

@RobbM That charts just for Goodyear tires so you should feel free to follow it if that's what you own. If you're using any other brand of tire you should follow the specifications outlined by the manufacturer.
