Replacement Sight Glasses Or Bearing Buddies For A 2003 Boatmate Trailer
Updated 03/20/2024 | Published 03/18/2024 >
Question:
I have a 2003 Boatmate Trailer for a Malibu Ski Boat. Serial # 5A7BB22134T000167 It has oil bath bearings. I would like to replace the sight glasses since they are completely opaque now or switch to Bearing Buddy with a grease fitting. Is either the sight glasses available or is it an easy swap to Bearing Buddies? Thank you

Hello Steve, I can certainly point you in the right direction. Unfortunately, we do not have a way to look up a serial number of a trailer in order to know what sight glasses or bearing buddies you would need. Only the manufacturer of the trailer would be able to provide that info. Do you happen to know the weight capacity of each axle? That will help to narrow it down a lot. Or if you were to take one of the current oil caps and measure the OD of the threaded portion, that would tell us exactly what size you need. We should have a new oil cap kit for you. If you want to switch to bearing buddies, this is pretty easy to do once we know the size. You would just need new seals to go with the bearing buddies.
For example, the Oil Cap Kit # RG04-260 will fit the standard 6,000 lb and 7,000 lb oil bath hubs and drums. If this is not exactly what you have, feel free to send me that info and I am happy to make a recommendation.

Thanks for getting back to me. I will try to get an OD later this week. The trailer is a single axle with a GAWR of 5200lbs. The axle serial # is A72347. The OD of the silver cap is about 2 1/3 in or 59mm.
