Today we're going to take a look at the oil cap kit for 6,000 pound and 7,000 pound Dexter axles. This oil cap is a screw-in plastic cap. It's a clear cap so you can see the oil level through it. It is designed to fit 6,000 pound and 7,000 pound Dexter axles with oil bath hub and drums. The outer diameter of this cap is measured 2.563 inches. The kit does come with the oil cap itself, comes with the rubber plug that you take this off to fill with oil and put it back on to seal it, and it comes, as you can see here, with the rubber O-ring on it to help seal it when you screw it in to the hub assembly.

Right parts the Right price
Good product, but not sure of the fit, may be to shallow
A little over a year and still working. Just make sure to use a torque wrench when installing them. I set my torque wrench to 20 lbs and then I gave a tiny snug. It probably ended at XX lbs.
Make sure to use the torque wrench. It is extremely easy to over-tight these caps and you wont notice it was over torqued after a few months later when they crack between the thread and the cap.
Finding the part was easy on the eTrailer web site. The price was reasonable and the delivery fast.

etrailer had all the axle info for the correct bearing, seals, and races but sent me huge oil caps that were no where near the correct size. I called to get replacements and am still waiting on a call back two business days later. Now my equipment trailer will be out of service for a week. I'm going to a local trailer dealer next time.

Good replacement cap for a great price
