Replacement Hubs For Loadmaster Trailer With Tandem Axles
Updated 04/23/2014 | Published 04/22/2014 >
Question:
I have a 2002 Loadmaster trailer model 1921-6TD 6000GVWR and want to know what hubs will fit it. I am pretty sure it is 5 on 4 1/2 bolt pattern and either 14 or 15 inch rims. These are the rear hubs as the front hubs have disc brakes. Thanks!

There are a couple of things you will want to know when selecting the hubs for your trailer. One is the weight capacity of the axles the hubs will be used on and second is the wheel bolt pattern. The axle may have a plate or sticker on it that says what the weight capacity is.
You can also check the numbers on the existing bearings and seals to find the right hub as well. Look for the number stamped on the ends or side of the bearings or seals.
Another way to determine the weight capacity is by measuring the axle using a precision instrument like a dial caliper.
Here's a breakdown on typical axle weight ratings based on axle diameter:
1,000-lb - 2,000-lb Axles: 1-1/2 in - 1-3/4 in diameter
3,500-lb Axles: 2-3/8 in diameter (Can have a 3-1/2 in diameter, but rarely)
6,000-lb - 7,200-lb Axles: 3 in diameter
8,000-lb Axles: 3-1/2 in diameter
9,000 lb Axles: 4 in diameter
10,000-lb Or more axles: 5 in diameter
I have attached a link to a helpful article that shows how to determine the wheel bolt pattern.
If you determine you have 3500 lb axles and you have a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern, I recommend the Dexter Trailer Hub Assembly, part # 84545BX. This includes the bearings, races, seals and grease caps, as well as the wheel bolts and lug nuts.
