Question:
You probably wont have an answer to this question, but hope springs eternal. I need a ramp to load my Pride electric scooter into my truck bed. Im a 69 year old, above the right above knee amputee, now with a new right shoulder rotator cuff tear. We have a trip coming up, pre planned for some time, trying to come up with a solution. My wife and I cant manually load the scooter anymore. Her back, my shoulder. Using crutches adds an extra dimension of interesting. We do have a hitch cargo carrier but its heavy and it leaves the scooter exposed to the elements, possible theft. The truck has a topper, scooter fits perfectly, much more desirable situation. Just one side of the ramp looks like it might meet my needs, but I need some more info Dont misunderstand, Im not asking to just get half a set. Id get the standard set if this looks like it might work. Mainly need info regarding how the scooters wheels will handle the gaps between the cross rungs and the possibility of grounding out the scooter with only a 2 in. ground clearance. My plan is to load and unload it under its own power, operating it from the side. Specs: Truck: 2020 F150 4x4, quad cab. Has a topper over the bed. Bed: 66.5 in long, 5 ft wide Tailgate: 35in from the top of the tailgate when open to the ground. Pride 3 wheel scooter: 19.5in rear wheel width base 28in length wheel base Wheels 7.7 in diameter 2 inch ground clearance. I understand this question is unusual, a long shot, but whatever help you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Bill

Hey William, so I believe I have a great solution for you but I wouldn't recommend the ramps you mentioned because of the distance between the slats that I think wouldn't work well with your electric scooter. Instead I would recommend the CargoSmart ramp set part # 3483086-2 which doesn't have the gaps like the ramp you mentioned, is longer, and has an s-curve built into it which helps prevent high centering when cresting over the tailgate like you mentioned as well.

Hmm, let me think about it and get back with you. The 30+pounds per individual ramp is a concern. Thanks for your input and getting back so quickly.
