Can Larger Wheels and Tires Be Installed on a Triple Axle Trailer With 225/75R15 For More Clearance?

Published 01/04/2024

Question:

what is a common tire size increase for 225-75R15? I have a triple axle trailer that needs more clearance and leveling because the back tire gets the majority of the weight. I was thinking a larger tire might help distributed the weight better by maker it more level.

Instead of having to replace all your wheels and tires you should consider the Correct Track Trailer Alignment and Lift Kit # RR55QX. This kit will allow you to raise the suspension on a triple axle trailer with double eye leaf springs, 1-1/4" or 2-1/4".

If you were to look at larger tires like the Karrier ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire with 16" Aluminum Wheel # KE39JR this tire is 30.7" tall versus your 225/75R15 # LHWL304 which is only 28.3" tall. These would likely have fitment issues since the tires would sit 2.4" closer to each other which would likely not give you enough clearance between the tire.
