How To Get Full 2-1/4" Lift With Correct Track Trailer Alignment and Lift Kit For Tandem Axle RR23QX

Updated 12/26/2025 | Published 12/21/2025

Question:

It mentions buying an additional part to get the 2-1/4 lift in the highlights. What part is that?

Hey Richard, great question. To get the full 2-1/4" lift on a tandem axle setup, you actually need the triple axle kit part # RR55QX instead of the # RR23QX tandem axle kit. You could also achieve this by getting the tandem axle kit, and an additional single axle kit, but the triple axle kit is much more cost effective compared to ordering two kits.

The triple axle kit will have enough brackets to do the full 2-1/4" lift on all 6 hangers. I know its a little odd/confusing but this is just how the manufacturer offers these kits. It actually took quite a bit of back and forth with them to get to the bottom of this one.

Thank you! Do they provide any instruction on how exactly to install the additional brackets?

@RichardF all the brackets install the same. There are 3 holes total, plus a small hole for a self tap screw), of which the lower two holes are for the leaf spring bolt, the higher gives the 1 1/4” lift, the bottom the 2 1/2” lift. Each leaf spring bracket would require the kit brackets to get the desired lift. They sandwich the leaf hanger, so 2 brackets per leaf hanger. One thing to watch is if you have an equalizer between the axles, you may need to shave off the curved edge of the kit’s brackets to allow full pivot of the equalizer, especially the MoRyde 3000, speaking from personal experience. I also cut the square Swiss cheese plate to allow full pivot of the equalizer. Another thing I would suggest is to measure the new spring bolts, and order replacement wet bolts to install instead.

@jesse m @Cj hey CJ. Please see the first answer above. I had to buy a separate kit with additional brackets to achieve the full 2-1/4 lift, but it didn’t show how to install the “additional” brackets.

@RichardF I put this on a few years ago to a trailer I was resurrecting. There was directions but I found it easier the way my brain works to lay out the parts do an initial measurement as they show from wheel to tongue. Once you see what hole works best line up all the brackets and mark the hole and orientation. Knock on wood, so far has seemed to stay lined up with a lot of off road use on a 16’ utility trailer that hauls 4 quads and camping gear. I am a do it yourselfer and it was a little intimidating when all the parts fell out of the box, but if you organize it and double check before you crank it all down, it should be pretty straight forward
