If I install this hitch will the bumper be removed? Does it replace it?

Yes, installation of the Draw-Tite Max-Frame # DT58MR will require removal of the rear bumper beam on your 2023 Model Y. The hitch bolts-on in place of the bumper beam, replacing it completely. You can hang onto or discard the bumper beam following the installation.
