What Does Dry Setting on Furrion RV AC Unit Do

Updated 12/18/2025 | Published 09/14/2023

Question:

I installed this unit with a Furrion Chill HE 13.5K unit. One of the settings on the thermostat says Dry. I understand what Fan, Cooling and Heat do, but what is the point of the Dry setting? What does that do? I found a manual for the thermostat online, but it doesnt really say what the function is. It just tells you that it is cycling on/off the compressor or leaving it on with the fan on low. Is this feature to help expel moisture from inside the coach?

Yes, the dry setting is basically using the Furrion AC like a dehumidifier since AC units do remove moisture from air. Its basically a way to accomplish that without cooling the temperature.

In a hot/humid climate is it recommended to run it in dry mode mostly?

@J I would say that's a good idea but it's up to you how much humidity you are okay with etc.

@JamesonC ok. Is it ok to run it on dry for days or it’s a short period type thing.

Normally we set the ac to 70 and it holds that temp all night. The other night we tried dry mode and we woke up and it was 58. What the heck is that all About? Furrion chill he 15k 2025

@Kyle That's really odd. Is there any chance it wasn't actually in dry mode? It didn't happen to be a super cool night and it just got that cold on it's own? The thermostat isn't supposed to go any lower than 60 degrees is why I ask.

@JamesonC The thermostat was on dry 70 The tstat showed 60 degrees but my camper indoor monitor for my cats “waggle” showed 58. How does the dry function work on this unit

@Kyle It is supposed to run the compressor to dry the air similar to how your defrost in your car runs the AC compressor to push out dry air to help clear the windshield up as much as possible. If you were to run dry mode right now and then switch to AC can you feel a difference in air temperature that comes out? It shouldn't be pulling in outside air so if the air is cold on Dry mode something isn't working properly.
