What would be needed to add a second axle to a boat trailer? Currently a single axle trailer with leaf spring suspension and brakes.

Expert Reply:

To add a second axle to your trailer, apart from the axle you'll need another set of hangers that need to be welded on, another leaf spring,four more U-bolts, an equalizer, four more shackle straps, and eight more shackle bolts. You'll have to measure your hangers for matching ones and reposition your current axle as well so I can't give you any specifics on what is needed.
