E z latch comes in a metal Handle or composite Handle which is the better design ?

Personally I prefer the Demco Trailer Coupler # DM14976-52 with the composite handle over the Coupler # DM15791-81 with a metal handle. I feel it is easier to operate as it does not have the safety latch like you get on the metal handle. Since most trailers are always outside the safety latch tends to get some corrosion in the handle and can become difficult to open.

Both these couplers will need the Hardware Kit # DM6166 to mount to a 3" channel. You will need a locking pin like the etrailer Adjustable Trailer Coupler Latch Lock # e98883 to secure the trailer coupler to your hitch ball.

First I want to make sure you verify your channel mount for the Demco Trailer Coupler #DM14040-81 has a 21K or larger capacity as often times they are less like the Demco #DM15349-52 which often times people look at and think it is a channel mount…

The review on the product page for the Demco Trailer Coupler #DM15791-81 is actually from a similar product and not the exact same coupler. I'm not sure the product the customer is referring to but the latch handle of #DM15791-81 is metal.

I went out to the warehouse and found that the thread of the bolts in the Hardware Kit #DM6166 you referenced is about 1-3/4" long while the overall length of the bolts is 2-1/8" which you can see in the attached photo.

Good question; the bolts in the Hardware Kit for Demco Adjustable Channel Mount Couplers #DM6166 should be torqued to 150 lb-ft during install of a Demco coupler like #DM14040-81 to a bracket like #DM66134.
