Will Dometic Weather Shield Fit with Solera Slide Topper Awning

Question:

I have a 16’ Solero ST5000 slide topper to replace , apparently, a domestic topper that had a flexible metal weather shield. Can I use this with the Solero? I’ve check the bead channel and it appears that it will work. What I do not know is procedure to install using this shield. What, if anything would I have to do as far as tension? Will the Solero take up the tension as long as I don’t unroll the 6” to install as per instructions? That’s about the same amount that the flexible metal shield is when out.

According to my research the weather shield you have on your Dometic slide topper is unique to the Dometic awnings and requires the awning fabric to have some additional bead seatings so you can properly install the shield.

The Solera RV Slide-Out Awning - 15'7" Wide - 48" Projection - White # LCV000163307 works for slide outs measuring 182" - 187" wide but these don't include the seatings needed to fit with the weather shield you're wanting to use, so if that is a determining factor then you'll need to get a replacement awning from Dometic, but I would make sure it has the proper parts on it so the weather shield will still work.
