Recommended 5th Wheel Rail Kit for a 2023 Chevy Silverado 2500

I’m thinking of swapping my truck for a new 2023 GMC 2500hd It does not have a puck system in bed. I pull a 5th wheel Can a 5 th wheel hitch be installed With out the requirement of a puck system in a 2500 truck?

Yes, you can definitely install a 5th wheel hitch without the factory puck system.

It looks like back in 2020 you bought the Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch item # DM8550034 from us. To install it in a 2023 Chevy Silverado 2500 that doesn't have a puck system you will need the Reese Quick-Install Custom Outboard Installation Kit w/ Base Rails item # RP84FR. This is a custom fit kit that installs in existing holes in your trucks frame.

If you're using a different 5th wheel hitch now you should be good with item # RP84FR because it works with almost all hitches so long as they are industry standard. If you would like me to verify yours feel free to email me directly.

To make towing with a 5th wheel easier I recommend adding the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Connector - 7' Long item # C58FV. This harness puts a 7-way connector in the bed of your truck and allows you to keep the one on your bumper. This makes hooking up to your 5th wheel trailer easier and more convenient.
