Highest Load Range of Trailer Tire in Size 225/75-15

Question:

I have a 10k gvw dump trailer that has Westlake 225 75 R15 tires load range E. I have heard many people say this is the bare minimum load range tire for this trailer. Is it a waste of $s to upgrade to a load range G 14 ply?

It comes down to how much weight the trailer will be at when it's loaded and ready to tow and how much capacity the tires have. If you can determine the max your trailer will weigh and then add up the capacity of all of your trailer tires you'll know if you are safe or not.

The highest Load Range we offer for your tire size of 225/75-15 is the Load Range F with the part # TA25MR which has a 3,195 lb capacity per tire. If your trailer was a tandem axle setup that would give you 12,780 lbs of tire capacity.
