How Can Trailer Lighting be Powered From Onboard Battery and Tow Vehicle

Question:
I have a horse trailer, which I would like to rewire for lighting and other accessories. I plan to have an onboard 12v deep cycle battery. I want the lighting and accessories to be powered from the 12v trailer wiring while connected to the tow vehicle and the battery when not connected. Also, I would like to know how to connect the battery for trickle charging from the 12v trailer wiring

Basically you'd need to run the power wire for the lighting and accessories to the same wire that runs to the 12 volt battery to charge it from the trailer wiring. This basically will allow you to power the circuit at any given time but when connected to the tow vehicle it's going to pull from the tow vehicle's charge circuit. This also will put a maintenance charge on the battery when towing like you wanted as well.
