Recommended Crossbars for Carrying 4 Bikes on 2023 Toyota Tundra Truck Bed

Question:

I have a 2023 Tundra with Retrax XR. It looks like the reccomended cross bar is the Pro Evo which comes in a 69inch and 79. Are there other cross bars to consider? What length do you reccomend? My desire is to carry 4 bikes and I woudl prefer the smallest cross bar that allows me to do this. The 69inch by my math would have a 2inch overhang from the retrax rail. Will this work for set up and could I fit 4 bikes? The 79inch is one inch shorter than the max width of the truck and has a 7inch overhang. This seems like it woudl stick out to far and be a hazard. If I went with the 79, is the 7inch enough to put a bike on the outside? Ultimately, I want to get the smallest bars that work that also allow for 4 bikes. Thanks!

The Thule ProBar Evo Crossbars # TH713700 could certainly work, but you have other options and I wouldn't really recommend them. Instead, I would go with the Rhino-Rack Vortex Crossbars for Retrax XR and Mountain Top EVO-M Tonneau Covers # RRVA180B-RRRLT600. Not only will this save you some money, it also looks better and will be more aerodynamic.

This comes with 71" crossbars which should be enough for your bikes and won't have too much overhang on the sides. Without knowing what bikes you have it is difficult to determine the exact fit. What you can do to be sure is arrange your bikes like you would when carrying them. Measure how wide they are and compare that to the crossbar length. For a bike rack you could use the # RRRBC050 for a wheel mount or # Y02098 for a fork mount. I recommend alternating the direction they face to save space.
