Updated 05/03/2023 | Published 05/01/2023

Question:

I have a 2020 Look single axle trailer with a 3500# axle. I would like to get everything I need to install trailer brakes. I have a brake controller in my truck. Can you tell me what I need to include the wiring, hubs, etc?

To get your single 3,500 lb axle trailer set up for brakes you'll need the trailer brakes, hub and drum assemblies, wiring, and a breakaway kit. Here are the parts I recommend for this:

- Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting # AKEBRK-35-SA
- Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly with 5 on 4-1/2" Bolt Pattern # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K
- Epicord 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug with Junction Box # 277-000141
- 10 Gauge Wiring # 10-1-1
- Butt Connectors # DW05745-10
- Breakaway Kit # 3802308

I've linked some videos for you to check out and I'm also attaching a link to our helpful article on adding electric drum brakes to a trailer for you to reference.
