Expert Reply:
The only trailer hitch receiver for your 2011 Chevy HHR is indeed a Class I, 1-1/4 inch hitch, but what you may be able to do is use a 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch adapter. I say "may" because the use of an adapter will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by 50 percent; that means the most your bike rack and bikes can weigh is 100 lbs. If that's okay, what you will need is the following:
- Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11447
- Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Hitch # e43YR
- Hitch Pin and Clip for 1-1/4" Hitches # e95TR
Unless you have heavier ebikes, I suspect this will be just fine. If you do have heavy ebikes you'd have to go with a bike rack that is Class I compatible for a 1-1/4 inch hitch that will work with the 200 lb tongue weight, such as the 60 lb per-bike capacity Saris Freedom # SA4412B.
