Troubleshooting the Fusion LED Trailer Tail Light STL211XRFHB

Question:
Hi, I purchased a pair of STL211XRFHB trailer lights for the back of my A-liner camper. All functions work properly on the right light, while on the left, all work properly except for the tail light. Since the brake light uses the same leds as the tail, I assume the problem is not with the light unit. The black tail light wire of the left unit is connected to the same green wire feed as the right unit, so I assume the feed wire is not the problem. Since the trailer light wires are 18ga and the trailer wire is 16ga, and thinking that the snap connector wasn’t making contact with the smaller light wire,, I replaced the connecting wire in the snap connector with a 16ga stub and connected it to the light wire with a screw connector, but that didn’t work. As suggested by etrailer, I will look at the ground wire connection to the light. But in the meantime, do you have any other suggestions?

In regards to the Fusion LED Trailer Tail Light part # STL211XRFHB; the white wire is for ground, the black wire is for running, the red wire is for stop/turn, and the brown wire is for reverse. The wire colors on the trailer can differ from manufacturer to manufacturer but they are usually; white for ground, brown for running, green for right stop/turn, yellow for left stop/turn, and purple/yellow for reverse (if applicable). Therefore, it sounds like you might have a simple wiring mix up.
If you have ensured the wiring is correct, you can do a bench test of the light by attaching the white wire to a ground and the black wire directly to the battery. If all is well with the light then you have an issue with your wiring and will need to start tracing and testing wires, working your way from the light to the connector until you find the issue.
