Replacement Control Module for Lippert Tread Lite that Clicks After Motor Replacement

Published 01/04/2023

Question:

I have what appears to be a Lippert Tread Lite powered step. The step control module has the part number 334850 on it and the motor was just replaced at another repair facility because it was thought to be the cause of the steps not working. New motor, steps still not working. So it is now at my shop and I have checked all the powers and ground and they appear to be ok. When the step assembly is plugged in there is a clicking noise and then about five seconds later, another clicking sound and then nothing almost sounds like something is being applied with the first click and then released with the second. Ive unplugged the motor and checked voltage at the two pin connector and there is no voltage coming from the module, although I noticed that a couple of times after Ive disconnected and then reconnected the green ground wire, the test light would start flashing like the module was in some type of special mode. Also, I have bench tested the motor and no movement from the motor, just a pretty noticeable spark when I apply voltage to it. Aside from that, there are two other white wires that also come from the motor besides the two that go to the two pin connector. They are smaller in gauge and also go to the module. So... any suggestions?

Based on what you described it does sound like the module is bad and would need to be replaced. The correct replacement would be the part # LC334850 that you referenced.
