Question:

Will the Draw-Tite model DT28MR work on a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk? I read a comment about the safety chain loops not being accessible.

Expert Reply:

Though the safety chain loops on the Draw-Tite # DT28MR will be recessed due to where the hitch will sit, they are not inaccessible by any means. This is designed to mimic the look of a factory hitch so it will fit in the area the factory hitch will. We haven't had the chance to install this on a Cherokee Trailhawk as of yet, so I do not have a video showing this, but again, it will work perfectly fine.

With that being said, if you will be towing with the hitch a lot and prefer to have easier access to the safety chain loops, the Curt # C13395 will sit below the bumper and have much easier access. This will have the same weight capacities, but definitely will not be hidden like the Draw-Tite # DT28MR.

If you are planning on towing you will also need a wiring harness item # C56406 and a ball mount kit item # C45534.
