Question:
Say, I have a standard toyota rav4, 2018, and Id like to tow 2000 lbs wirh it. Is there a way to bump up capacity from the factory 1500 max to 2000lbs? Like can you recommend products for more tongue weight, and engine cooling?

Expert Reply:
It is not possible to increase the towing capacity or tongue weight of any vehicle, including your 2018 Toyota RAV4, and you always need to abide by the lowest-rated component, which in your case is the 1,500 lb capacity of the vehicle. So that's the max you can tow. Hitches are always overbuilt and rated higher than the capacity of the vehicle, such as the 3,500 lb capacity of the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98864.
So you'd still have a max of 1,500 lbs towing with that hitch and your '18 RAV4. For wiring use the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118578.
