Does Redarc BCDC Charger Run Wire to Front of Vehicle if Used with Smart Alternator

Question:
I have a 2015 VW Toureg TDI with factory trailer wiring. I am towing an RV. Lithium Iron phosphate battery. I am thinking of using the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger - Single Input - DC to DC - 12V/24V - 12 Amp My question is do I have to run any extra wiring? It looks like I will need to run a wire directly to the vehicle battery. Is this correct? FYI: The vehicle has a smart alternator

Expert Reply:
Since your vehicle does have a smart alternator you do need to run a wire from the Redarc # RED96FR to the ignition. I also attached a diagram that shows how this installs on a Lithium setup like you have.
