I have a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 the new model not the limited and GM has a problem with the trailer brakes not staying engaged. Will an aftermarket controller work on these new trucks and what does it take to install. Thanks

Yes, you can install a aftermarket brake controller on your 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. You will need to have a dealer remove the factory controller programming from your trucks computer. The Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3064-P will allow you to connect to the factory wiring on your Sierra to install a brake controller. I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller # RED63RR as it will allow you to have a dash mounted control knob instead of having a large controller like the P3 # 90195 mounted to the dash. This Redarc does include a adapter which will connect to the Tekonsha harness.
