I recommend using a bike rack like the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack # HLY74FR due to the exhaust location near the receiver. This rack has a long steel hitch tube which moves the bike rack far away from the exhaust to protect the bikes and your rack.

The Upgraded Heavy Duty ModuLite Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness # C59496 will allow you to add a 4-way connector to your Mini. This will allow you to use Auxiliary Lights # C53201 with the bike rack. These are typically needed since your bike wheels and tires are likely to impair the view of your tail lights to other drivers.

I am thinking of getting this for my 2017 mini s hardtop. From the comment made by BudM above and his recommendation of Hollywood Sport Rider SE model to alleviate, the heat from exhaust concerns me, and I wonder any of the top recommendations would be a concern, thank you.

@SR The Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack # HLY74FR that Bud mentioned is a great option for this setup because it sits out from the vehicle further than other options. Since the receiver sits directly above the exhaust, I can't say the fear is ever going to go away, but this rack will make it less likely for exhaust to damage the bikes.

@SR I don't see any of the bike racks from our article having a major problem with the exhaust. The Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202, Kuat NV 2.0 # NV22G, and Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE # HLY84FR all have a pretty decent built in rise. This will get the bikes up and out of the way of the exhaust so you won't be cooking them on the back of your 2017 Mini.
