Question:
Good morning, I have a 2021 Ram 2500 6 4 bed that is fifth wheel ready. I assume that means it has the puck system. I bought a 24 5th wheel yesterday and am in need of a hitch. It weighs 5800 dry and about 8000 loaded and 1100lbs at the pin. What hitch would I need for this set up? Thank you!

If you're looking for the best overall fifth wheel hitch, I recommend the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # BWRVK3670. The B&W Companion will outperform/outlast pretty much any other hitch on the market. It's made of very heavy duty steel which means it weighs a ton but with this you get outstanding durability. The thick dual jaw system grips the kingpin tight so there is pretty much no movement of the kingpin which translate to a smooth ride and the cam-action handle means you can uncouple the trailer even on uneven terrain. It just simply drops into the puck system for an easy install.
If you're not looking for the best and just something to get the job done well, I recommend Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # 16516 which also requires the Adapter Rails for Curt 5th Wheel Hitch part # C16022. This setup will still work great for you but the ride won't be as nice as the B&W Companion and you won't have as much leeway when uncoupling. It also requires a separate adapter for the puck system. That said, if you're only towing the trailer a few times a month so you don't need the best, this is a very good economical choice for that.
