Question:
I have a 2003 USC trailer. Single axle. I have been told that I need a whole new axle. The bearings are burnt on one side. I am thinking that I can just rebuild the hubs. The make of the axle is Dexter Axle. Its a rubber torsion axle. The part number is 059-558-00 Rev. B. I can send pictures if thats needed. I am wanting to discuss my options. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Thank you for the information. More than likely you have a 3,500 lb axle with hubs that have a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern which means you can use part # AKIHUB-545-35-EZ-K for an idler hub or part # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K for a hub and drum kit. These use inner bearing L68149, outer bearing L44649, and have a grease seal inner diameter of 1.719" so you'll want to confirm this matches your application prior to purchasing.
The one thing that concerns me in this scenario is you saying the advice given to you was to replace the axle entirely. While that doesn't sound like an ideal solution, if the spindle on your axle was damaged bad enough you really do need to look into a new axle or at the very least having an experienced welder come out and replace the spindle for you otherwise a damaged spindle can burn through bearings constantly.
If you decide to replace the axle let me know and I can help you choose the correct one.
