Question:

I need a roof rack system for my PALOMINO SS 550 pop top truck camper. I cannot easily open top so I thought about screw outside half round metal joint on each side to attach system?

It sounds like you're looking for a roof rack that mounts to the sidewalls of your Palomino SS 550 and can extend higher for when you pop up the top section of your camper. While I do have a roof rack system for your slide-in bed camper, we only have options that mount to the roof itself - I haven't heard of a roof rack that extends higher like what you described.

For your application you can either use the Swagman Roamer LT # S80510 which is a fixed square crossbars design or the Rhino-Rack Aero Bar Roof Rack for Camper Shells # Y02-480B which is a track design with aero-style crossbars. I like the Rhino-Rack system better because you can adjust it to fit different situations but it does take up more roof space which in turn requires more modification.
