Question:
With the reese equalizer hooked up I am showing 1500 lbs added weight on the rear wheels and Negative 200 lbs on the front. Reese said to tilt the ball backward. What effect will that have?

When you tilt the ball of a weight distribution system rearward on your hitch (toward the trailer) you are changing the physics of the system and therefore also the tension on the rear of the trunnion spring bars. Tilting the head rearward will take more of the weight off the rear axle of the towing vehicle by shifting it to the front axle.
I have attached a video that shows a weight distribution system being installed and how the measurements should be taken to determine correct adjustment.
A hitch receiver must be specifically rated for use with a weight distribution system. This will be indicated on the safety/warning sticker on your hitch receiver.
I have also linked you to an FAQ article that explains weight distribution and how it works.
