Question:
Hello, question about sumo rear springs for an RV ford E450 class C. I have a problem opposite of most people. The E450 is much more spring capacity than is required for my Small 22 foot class C. Usually an E350 would be used in this application. Would sumo springs help in the ride quality? It is very stiff and jarring ride. I have considered air bags but have heard a lot about the Sumo Spring. Thanks

Helpful Expert Reply:
The ride in your 2018 Ford E-450 will be improved to a certain degree by the SumoSprings - Front Axle # SSF-106-40 and Rear Axle # SSR-130-47, but they will not give you a ride that is as cushioned as air bags. So for the main purpose of improving a ride that is stiff and jarring, I do recommend air bags over SumoSprings, with the best option being the Firestone Ride-Rite. The correct fit for these air bags on your '18 E-450 are the following:
- Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F22ZR
I verified the fit of the # F22ZR directly with the manufacturer for you, and these are better than SumoSprings for an improved ride quality because you have the ability to control the air pressure to accommodate your exact needs. So you can find the best air pressure to improve and cushion your ride, unlike SumoSprings, which are stiffer and won't give you the same benefit for quality.
I do also recommend adding a compressor to make both monitoring and maintaining the air bags much easier, and the simplest option is a wireless compressor, the Air Command Compressor System # F2610.
