Is Reprogramming Necessary for Stealth Hitches Wiring Installation on 2018 Volvo XC90 T8

Question:

Hidden hitch install on Volvo 2018 XC 90 T8. Do I really need to get the vehicle re-programmed in order to use this hitch install kit?

Reprogramming will be necessary with the installation of the Towing Kit w/ Ball Mount and Trailer Wiring # SH36FR. Unlike other wiring harnesses, this includes a wiring control module that you will plug your vehicle wiring harness into. Without taking it to the dealer to be programmed the trailer lights will not work. This wiring harness is also different when compared to the # 118683 since it will give you a 7-way along with a 4-way adapter and not just a 4-way.

If you know you will be towing, you can get the Stealth Hitches Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver w/ Towing Kit - Custom Fit - 2" # SH27FRT which includes the towing kit. If you only need the hitch for accessories then you can get the Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # SH27FR instead. You can always add the towing kit # SH36FR at a later time.
