Troubleshooting Yakima FullTilt Bike Rack Anti-Rattle Becoming Loose During Travel
Published 05/06/2022 >
Question:
I recently used my Yakima FullTilt Bike Rack which I bough a few months back from etrailer. I securely tighten up the rack before a 30 mile trip and loaded three bikes. However, after the trip it felt like the rack is not as tight - I can feel the rack can move relative to the car. I tighten it up again for the return trip and the experience was same. Wondering if this normal and safe? Thanks

Thank you for your purchase of the Yakima FullTilt # Y02463!
What you are experiencing should not be happening but I think I know what's going on. When you start tightening down the anti-rattle knob you'll want to move the rack around a little to help take up slack (usually it's more up and down than side to side). Once it's tightened down you should be able to move the shank of the bike rack and ultimately move your entire vehicle (see 3:15 minute mark of attached video). Be sure to also lock the knob to prevent it from becoming loose while you're traveling.
If you've followed all of these steps but you are still experiencing this issue then that might be a warranty issue we may need to look into.
